“FloodWatch India” is the Official Mobile App of Central Water Commission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India that is specifically designed for dissemination of real-time flood situation and flood forecasts in the country. It also includes information storage position of major reservoirs. The version 2.0 of App launched by the Union Minister Shri C R Patil on August 13, 2024

FloodWatch India App Features

Real Time Flood Forecast: The new version of the app will provide real-time flood forecasts from 592 monitoring stations and storage positions of 150 major reservoirs in the country.

Advance Forecast System: This version also provides additional information regarding the storage positions of 150 major reservoirs in the country to help in better understanding of the possible flood situation in their downstream areas

User Friendly App: The user-friendly app presents all the information in two languages English and Hindi and is available in readable and audio broadcast format. The app will add other regional languages in the coming days.

How FloodWatch India V 2.0 works

Satellite data Collection and Analysis: This app work on Satellite data collection and analysis of Rainfall Pattern, Weather Forecast, Watershed mapping and Flood mapping.

Real-Time Monitoring: Real time monitoring of Atmospheric Pressure generation, Water Level in major reservoir, Rainfall Data and many other parameter to generate Real Time Flood Alert

Mathematical Modelling: Predict based on Hydrologic and Hydrodynamic modelling technique for Real Time water level and inflow prediction in the Rivers and Reservoirs.

The flood forecasting and advance warning help the user agencies in deciding mitigating measures like evacuation of people and shifting their movable properties to safer location. The overall accuracy of forecast issued by CWC (Central Water Commission) over the past years is above 90%..
